Google, one of the top four largest multinational technology companies in the world, specializes in internet-related services such as software and hardware, cloud computing and many others. Yet with its entire workload cut out for it, the company ends up improving societies across the globe through its different programs and scholarships for both developed and developing countries. The focus is on using technology as a means to improve the way services are provided for through disruptive measure. One of the disruptive measures is Google for education certified innovator program.
Google is looking for passionate, innovative K-12 teachers and school leaders who are Google for Education Level 2 Certified and who are driven to solve a challenge in the coming year. These individuals will become Google for education certified innovators and will join a community of more than 1,700 passionate educators in over 50 countries who are excited to grow professionally, advocate for innovative technologies and drive school transformation.
The innovator program kicks off with an in-person three-day Innovation Academy focused on helping new participants define, design and eventually launch a transformative project. After the Academy, Innovators stay engaged through mentorship, ongoing learning and development training, and special opportunities from Google to advocate for transformative technologies and practices.

HOW YOU CAN JOIN
You’ll take your initial interviews about the challenge at your school or district and your challenge video and bring it to the Google for Education Certified Innovator Academy. At the Academy, you’ll work with a small team and a coach from the innovator community. Your coach will support you before, during, and after the Academy. You’ll experience hands-on design thinking sprints, work through ideation and brainstorming, prototyping, validating and testing your idea, and eventually launch your solution. You’ll be paired one on one with a mentor from the Innovator community and work throughout the year to iterate and get support to make your project come alive!
APPLICATION STEPS:
1. | Find a three-day academy in your region that you are able to attend if accepted |
2. | Take the advanced course and pass the Google Certified Educator Level 2 exam |
3. | Identify a challenge in your classroom or school you’d like to try to solve. Interview a few students or teachers affected by the challenge, and film a 60-second video about that challenge and why you want to solve it. |
4. | Apply before August 2nd, 2019. |
Several locations have been selected for the cohorts to attend the Academy centres.
Apply before August 2nd to attend the Academy at New York, the United States where the program will hold on October 2-4, 2019.
Also, you can apply for the Stockholm, Sweden location. The deadline line for Stockholm location is September 6 while the program dates are November 6-8, 2019.
