Many of us will be watching on our small screens around the world. Google has launched a tour of the venues of the World Cup in Brazil online. In addition to the virtual tour of the venues, people around the world can also take a virtual walk on the World Cup themed graffiti Brazilian streets. Google is the foremost search engine in the world, bringing user experience. Google Maps have also been updated with detailed data of the twelve host cities and indoor maps to all the venues. Impressive! Here are a few facts about the Nigerian World Cup history: 1. The first World Cup was held in 1930 in Uruguay and Nigeria has attended four times in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010. 2014 will be our fifth appearance. 2. The Nigerian team, the Super Eagles got to the 2nd round stage twice. 3. The Super Eagles made their debut at the FIFA World Cup at USA 1994. 4. Peter Rufai appeared at the World Cup in France ’98 and Femi Opabunmi was the youngest to appear at Japan\Korea 2002 at 17 years old. 5. In Africa, Nigeria is 2nd to Cameroon who has seven World Cup appearances. 6. Late Rashidi Yekini was the first Nigerian player to score at the World Cup. 7.
