On Saturday, 30th March 2019, 190 golfers will compete for honors at the grand finale of the 9th Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament, scheduled to take place at the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club in Lagos.
Speaking to newsmen concerning the preparations already underway at the course for the lofty contest, the coordinator of the event, Pat Bassey, said the Ikoyi golf course was been revamped to make sure the contestants have a fine game during the tournament.
“As is usual for this special tournament, the Ikoyi Golf Course is being put in great but very challenging shape to ensure the emergence of a truly deserving 2019 champion of the DOAM Foundation Charity Golf Tournament. With best-in-class golfing hospitality and mouth-watering prizes on offer, participating golfers are in for a special tournament day treat that has become the hallmark of this annual event.”
Over the years, the funds raised by DOAMF Charity Golf Tournament have been directed to the development of specific areas of the community including healthcare, education and emergency intervention for special cases.
This year will be no different, as organizers plan to channel the proceeds from the tournament to bankroll its scholarship list to accommodate 60 students, improve the foundation’s back-to-school and mentorship programs, and give an Accident and Trauma Centre a modern facelift, amongst other plans.
After the games, there will be a closing ceremony and an awards cocktail.
