In 2013, Okagbare in her usual manner flew Nigeria’s flag high at the London Diamond League. On the same day, she broke the African 100m record twice with a time of 10.86 seconds and 10.79 seconds to win the 100m final. She surged to the finish line ahead of the 2012 100m Olympic champion, Shelly-Ann Fraiser-Pryce of Jamaica and current African 100m record holder, Murielle Ahoure of Cote D’Ivoire. Nigerians celebrated the achievements of one of their own as she trended in London. https://twitter.com/mountain214/status/1365223798325280768?s=08

One thing no one can take away from Okagbare is her will to fight through challenges that have confronted her athletic career. Despite injuries that have threatened to ruin her game, Okagbare at the age of 32 has continued to flourish on the track and set records that have made the world look towards Nigeria for athletic talents. We look forward to her next exploits on the track.
