In a game that certainly proved D’Tigress as Africa’s biggest basketball team, the Nigeria senior women’s team utterly dominated Guinea at the 2017 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Mali.
D’Tigress went up against the Guineans on the back of three straight wins at the games.
The Guineans, on the other hand, had a good run through the championships and were looking to pull an underdog move on Nigeria.
The Game
Sam Vincent fronted his usual five for the game against Guinea.
A perfect team up of Ezinne Kalu, Evelyn Akhator, Adaora Elonu, Atone Nginyifa and Ndidi Madu, saw Nigeria teach the Guineans a good lesson.
There has never been a more greater show of dominance in continental women’s basketball like D’Tigress portrayed in their game against Guinea.
The first quarter was a revealing one for the Guineans who struggled through each second of the quarter, with only 8 points to show for it.
For each point the Guineans scored, D’Tigress scored 3 more, ending the first quarter 26-8.
In the second quarter, things didn’t get any better for Guinea as D’Tigress forced them down to a 22-4 defeat.
D’Tigress took their counter attacking ball play a step further in the second half, recording a 34-8 victory in the third quarter.
No one told the Guineans they were in for a massacre, and D’Tigress cared less, extending the win margin to 106-33 at the final bell.
