Funke Opeke is an experienced telecommunications executive and the founder of the Nigerian based telecom and internet company, MainOne Cable.

She is a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, where she obtained a B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and the Columbia University, New York from where she has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Before returning to Nigeria in 2005 to serve as MTN’s Chief Technical Officer and briefly as Chief Operating Officer of NITEL, she worked as an executive director of Verizon Communications Wholesale Division in New York.

In 2007, she founded MainOne Cable which today is reputable for providing internet and telecom services world-class submarine cable systems, fibre optic networks and data centre facilities across West Africa. Currently, the presence and coverage of MainOne spans across not less than 8 countries in West Africa and has a Tier III data centre in Lagos which was commissioned in 2015, and so far is the largest in West Africa.

She will be one of the speakers in this year’s edition of ICTEL Expo, a three-day programme organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the objective of creating a platform where players in the ICT sector can network, discuss the trends in technology, find new ideas, meet suppliers and learn new ideas.

The event will take place from the 26th to 28th of July, 2016 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
