A worship song by Nigeria’s prolific worship leader and music minister, Freke Umoh & Voices of Purpose Choir, Kenya, has been nominated for Worship song of the year at the Sauti Awards, USA.
The worship song titled “Mungu Wangu” featured on Trace TV Gospel in October last year as number one gospel song. It was written in Swahili and performed by Nigerian gospel singer, Freke Umoh, and the Voices of Purpose Choir; music team of the Purpose Centre Church, Nairobi. Mungu Wangu is Swahili for ‘My God’. It was produced and mixed by Doron ‘Drobeats’ Clinton in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, while the video was shot by Sammy Dee of TRUE D Pictures in Kenya.
Apart from Mungu Wangu in the worship song of the year (South/West/East Africa) category, below are other Nigerian nominees for awards at the Sauti.

Freke in a message posted on picture sharing platform; Instagram wrote:

The Sauti Awards is an annual award ceremony to honour excellence in the African gospel recording industry. “Sauti” is a Swahili word, meaning “voice.” The awards provide a stage for African gospel artists to showcase their talents.
