Nigeria men’s U-20 football team, the Flying Eagles started their FIFA U-20 World Cup campaign in New Zealand on Monday morning with a 4-2 loss to Brazil. The game was easily the best game at the tournament so far; Brazil and Nigeria produced a classic at Taranaki Stadium in New Plymouth. Both teams produced end-to-end stuff with Nigeria the better team for most of the first half. However, just four minutes into the game, Brazilian midfielder Gabriel opened the scoring before Success Isaac grabbed the equaliser for Nigeria six minutes later. Nigeria went ahead in the 28th minute through a brilliant strike from Muha Yahaya after a swift counter attack started by goal keeper Enaholo. Brazil equalised minutes later through Judivan to ensure both teams went into the break on level terms. In the second half, Brazil went ahead again through substitute Boschilla when his long range strike eased past Enaholo. Boschilla went from scorer to provider in the 82nd minute to cap off an impressive win for the Brazilians. There were some spectacular skills – audacious flicks, tricks and turns – and free flowing, pacy attack from both teams. There were also some sumptuous goals, and many other near misses. Brazil 4 (Gabriel 4, Judivan 34, Boschilia 59, Judivan 82) Nigeria 2 (S Isaac 10, M. Yahaya 28) Halftime: 2-2
