The Nigerian national Under 20 team, the Flying Eagles, recorded their first win in the male football category of the ongoing 12th All Africa Games against South Africa on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the FAR Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco.

Goals from Collins Sor and Ahmed Ghali was all Nigeria needed to go top of Group A after a 1-1 draw against the Burkina Faso U-20 side in their first game. Three changes were made by coach Paul Aigbogun to the starting line up, with Liameed Quadri replacing Samuel Nnoshiri, Adesina Gata taking the place of Success Makanjuola, and Detan Ogundare taking over from Mathew Yakubu in the Flying Eagles goal post.

The Nigerian side started the game brightly and could have taken the lead earlier in the encounter with a lot of missed chances. However, Collins Sor in the 27th minute of the tie broke the deadlock after calmly finishing off a pass received from Saeed Jibril. The South African team would get their equalizer in the 55th minute through an Ofentse Mashiane goal, but Ahmed Ghali would go on to grab his second goal in the competition, gifting Nigeria the three points through a header in the 78th minute of the game. On Friday, August 23, 2019, the Flying Eagles will play their last group game against host nation, Morocco, in Rabat, needing just a draw to qualify for the semi-finals.
