When it comes to keeping clean, there are different methods involved. Most people want to look neat without doing much work, but the truth is that looking good requires effort. Personal hygiene might come naturally to some people, but others seem to put in a greater effort to be clean and acceptable in the society. Simple hygiene is not rocket science, it can be done with little determination and patience. These common tips include:
- Wash your hands: This is the simplest action of hygiene as the hands are in constant use. Contact with surfaces and other people in day to day activities is unavoidable, therefore the hands must be washed regularly preferably with antiseptics if available. Another major reason why the hands must be washed is to prevent the spread of germs and diseases in the environment.
- Watch your mouth: Oral hygiene is one of the major aspects of simple and routine hygiene as it directly influences the way a person is perceived. Bad breath is an issue most people cannot put up with and should, therefore, be avoided as much as possible. Under normal health conditions, brushing of the mouth at least twice a day should be enough.
- Dump dirty clothes: Wearing of dirty clothes can cause body odour, infections and diseases. Even an individual who bathes twice daily cannot escape body odour if he/she wears dirty clothes. Laundry should be done as often as necessary and smelly clothes should not be re-worn. Abiding by this simple rule will go a long way in improving personal hygiene.
- Nurture the nails: Fingernails and toenails say a lot about a person. Long and dirty nails leave a bad impression on people while clean and manicured nails give off positive vibes. Dirty nails also pose a health risk to an individual as harmful germs might get underneath the nails and cause illnesses.
- Comb your hair: No one likes unkempt hair as it gives the appearance of a haggard-looking person. Proper combing and taking care of the hair will ensure that an individual looks healthy and normal. Neat and well-cut hair project one as being attractive and approachable.
Simple hygiene can be learnt and practised by anyone because it is not difficult, all it takes is a little time and discipline and it goes a long way in the prevention and spread of diseases.
