The Nigeria Football Federation has made a number of appointments following the recommendations of the Technical and Development sub-committee.

Ex-Nigerian international Finidi George has been appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation as an assistant coach in the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles. The former Ajax Amsterdam of Holland star will serve as the second assistant while Salisu Yusuf will work as the first assistant. Finidi George is currently the head coach of eight-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba FC of Aba. New appointments for the country’s national team will also see UsmanAbdallah work as the third assistant, Ike Shorunmu taking over Alloy Agu as the goalkeepers’ trainer, and EboboritseUwejamomere as match analyst.

Since the Austin Eguavoen led technical crew failed to qualify Nigeria for the Qatar 2022 World Cup following a playoff defeat against Ghana, there have been questions surrounding who will take charge of the three-time African champions, but the Nigeria Football Federation in a statement noted that
“a new head coach, for the Super Eagles will be announced and officially unveiled once the processes for his engagement and contract-signing are concluded.”

Apart from the senior men’s football team, the NFF also appointed coaches for the Home-Based Eagles, Flying Eagles (U-20), and the Golden Eaglets (U-17).

For the Home-Based Super Eagles and U-23 Olympics team, Salisu Yusuf who led the team to a second-place finish in the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in 2018 will take charge, assisted by Kennedy Boboye, FataiOsho, AbubakarBala Mohammed, and Fidelis Ikechukwu. EboboritseUwejamomere is the Match Analyst and Ike Shorounmu, Goalkeepers’ Trainer 1, Suleiman Shuaibu (Goalkeepers’ Trainer 2).

Ladan Bosso retained his position as the Head Coach of the national U-20 team. He will be assisted by the trio of FataiAmao, OladuniOyakale, and JolomiAtuneAlli, while BaruwaOlatunjiAbideen will serve as Goalkeepers’ Trainer.

Nduka Ugbade who captained the first FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning Nigerian team has been appointed the Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets. Ugbade will be assisted by the trio of Ahmad Lawal Dankoli, Omoniyi Haruna Ilerika, and Yemi Daniel. Mohammed Nasiru Isah will work as the Goalkeepers’ Trainer for the cadet Eagles.

The NFF also appointed coaches for the U-13/15 team known as the Future Eagles. Patrick Bassey leads the charge and will be assisted by Abdullahi Tyabo Umar, Mohammed Kalli Kachalla, Ifeanyi Uba, and Alh. Mohammed Kwairanga, and Abubakar Abdullahi (Goalkeepers’ Trainer).
