The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn into Group D of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, alongside Ukraine, Qatar, and the USA.
The draw has placed the Nigerian U-20 team in one of the sturdiest groups in the forthcoming tournament, and the team must prepare for the challenges they will face if they must make a good impression when the World Cup kicks off in Poland, on May 23, 2019.
Coach Paul Aigbogun, believes that the team can pull a huge offset at the championship. However, in order to avoid a re-occurrence of the just concluded U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger Republic, the boys must focus on improving themselves as individual units, and a well-built team, considering their first set of opponents at the World Cup.
The draw was made by FIFA icons, Bebeto, winner of the 1983 U-20 World Cup and 1994 FIFA World Cup; and Fernando Couto, 1989 U-20 champions, at a prestigious gathering of coaches and Polish football veterans.
