After an impressive performance during the FIFA World Cup this year, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria lost their place in the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup yesterday to Germany after succumbing to a 1-0 loss.
Germany, who are captained by Nigerian-born defender Akpoguma, were the best team in the first half and got their reward in the 19th minute.
Highly-rated Levin Oztunali scored what proved to be the only goal of the game. He almost doubled his side’s lead in the second half after going round Enaholo in Eagles’ goal only for defender, Ndidi to clear his goal-bound shot off the line.
Nigeria failed to produce the same eye-catching performance they exhibited in the group stage and seemed nervous throughout the game.
We wish them luck in the next FIFA U-20 World Cup and we are proud of them for putting up a good fight.
