After a successful tournament in Rwanda last November (2020), FIBA is set to complete the third and final phase amidst safety protocols against COVID-19. Health and travel guarantees alongside compliance with FIBA health protocols formed the most important criteria for selecting the hosts for the continental showpiece. D’Tigers will look to have an impressive outing, qualify for the biggest basketball event in Africa, and continue their recent dominance in the African basketball space.

The qualifiers return to Cameroun for the second time after the Central African nation in February 2020, hosted the First Round of the Group C qualifiers. Tunisia returns to hosting African national teams’ basketball tournaments with this final window of qualifiers. The last time the North African country hosted such event was in September 2018 (third phase of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers). The final phase of this qualifiers will see the teams that finish in the top 3 of each group qualify for the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket set to hold in Rwanda from August 24 to September 5, 2021. If Rwanda finishes in the top 3 of Group D, the best fourth-placed team in any of the five groups will take their place due to the fact that the host nation qualifies automatically. Source: FIBA
