Afrobeat maestro, Femi Kuti, who lost for the fourth time at the Grammy Awards, says he not bothered about coming up short at the Awards this year, stating that the nomination made his year.
“Congrats to the winners, the nomination already made my year, not winning won’t spoil it,” Femi said via his Twitter account @femikuti.
Femi was nominated in the ‘World Music’ category for his album ‘No Place For My Dream’. French group, Gipsy Kings and South Africa’s male choral group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, were announced joint winner of the category. The Bang Bang crooner also made a joke about losing the award when he responded to tweets of his fans who felt he was robbed. “@1stworldmusic: @femikuti wat robbed!” Femi replied “by robbers? Don’t make me laugh pls lol lol congrats to the winners”. “@herbesoyeah: @femikuti didn’t win grammy award again… Racial discrimination of the highest order” Femi responded “lol my people be hapi”. Rapper Kendrick Lamar missed out on all seven nominations, including the Best Rap Song, Performance & Album to big winners of the night, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. The Hip-hop duo, Macklemore & Lewis, won four awards – Best New Artist plus Best Rap Album, Song and Performance, as Daft Punk also won four, including Record of the Year for their hit Get Lucky and Best Dance/Electronica Album. This year’s show was opened by Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce. You might also like:
