Following a series of meetings with Chief Executives of examination bodies in Nigeria which lasted for two days, Emeka Nwajiuba, the Minister of State for Education disclosed the dates for national examinations in the country. In an official public statement released on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, by the Federal Ministry of Education’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Ben Goong, it was revealed that the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Unity Colleges is scheduled to hold on October 17, 2020. For students in their final junior secondary school year (JSS3), the Basic Education Certificate Examinations, (BECE), which is also conducted by the National Examination Council will commence on August 24, 2020, and will end on September 7, 2020.

Further, the statement also noted that on-going registration for the SSCE (NECO) will end on September 10, 2020, and will not be extended, a clue for Nigerians to register as early as possible to avoid missing out on the examination as the government remains committed to seeing out a tough academic year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Students intending to write the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) examinations were also informed that September 21, 2020, will serve as commencement date, while October 15, 2020, will mark the end. September 23, 2020, to October 17, 2020, were also set as dates for the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) examination. Featured Image Source: Pulse NG
