Nigeria’s national women Under 20 team, The Falconets, are through to the semi-final of the female football category at the All Africa Games after a 1-1 draw against rivals, Cameroon, in Rabat, on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.
The Nigerian team went into the tie on the back of a 3-0 victory over South Africa in their opening fixture while, Cameroon targeted qualification into the semis after gaining the advantage of a walkover due to the withdrawal of the Zambian national women U-20 team from the competition.
Claudia Dabda gave the Central African side the lead in the 26th minute of the match, but Nigeria’s Chinyere Igbomalu leveled the score in the 52nd minute of the encounter. Despite efforts from both teams to secure a second goal, they ended up sharing the spoils at the Stade des Chenes battle. With this result, the Falconets have made it to the last four, leaving Cameroon and South Africa to square off on Saturday, August 24, 2019 for the last spot in the semi-final.
