France-based news channel, Euronews, has berthed in Africa with the launch of Africanews, which will serve the African hub with news bordering around the continent. Euronews aims to bring to Africa its unique know-how as a multi-lingual and multi-cultural news channel, broadcasting around the clock.
Euronews will launch the sister channel in Africa in 18 months time. The Europe-based news channel is in partnership with the national television channel of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Africanews will commence its broadcasts in English and French, and would add other languages widely-spoken on the continent. Africanews intends to serve the continent as a Pan-African rolling news channel with its headquarters situated in Brazzaville, DRC and regional offices set up across the African continent. Africanews will adhere to the same editorial charter as Euronews, thus guaranteeing its independence. The two networks will create a synergy by sharing editorial and programming content that will give Africa its rightful place in the world of news and give the world the latest news from the continent.You might also like:
