Nigerian forward, Emmanuel Dennis, made history on the night of Tuesday, October 1, 2019 when his Belgian club, Club Brugge, played out a 2-2 draw with European giants, Real Madrid in their second group match of the UEFA Champions League.
Further, Dennis made history as scoring the earliest goal in the UEFA Champions League history of Club Brugge. Dennis, 21, gave the visitors the lead in the contest after just nine minutes into the encounter, ensuring the Blue-Black got off to the best possible start in the game held at the Santiago Bernabeu. He would go on to double his side’s lead after Luka Modric’s careless pass sent him through on goal before putting the ball behind the net as Thibaut Courtois tried to make a save. Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, and Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro, rescued a point back for Zinedine Zidane’s side after replying Dennis’ goals but it was the Nigerian who stole the show.
