Matchroom boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, has urged Dillian Whyte to grab hold of a one time opportunity to face Anthony Joshua in front of 100,000 fans, at the Wembley Stadium on April 13.

Whyte had previously refused a fight deal with Joshua, however, Hearn has made a better offer to the fighter for a rematch of their 2015 bout which Joshua won by knockout.

Hearn, who guides both boxers, has advised Whyte to take the offer rather than wait on the World Boxing Organization’s (WBO) verdict on Joshua’s next mandatory fight.

He wants a shot at the world heavyweight title. We’ve delivered that– he doesn’t feel like the package is right at the moment. Now I think it is a good offer. I think also, it’s a shot at the world heavyweight title. He’s built himself to number one in the division; he’s not a mandatory challenger; AJ’s giving him a shot at the title for multi-millions of pounds.

There’s probably still some negotiations to do, but it also comes down to how much value you put on a shot at the world heavyweight title?” — Eddie Hearn.

Whyte has reportedly turned a deaf ear to Hearn’s proposal and is waiting to be named Joshua’s next WBO mandatory fighter in September/October, for a 70/30 percentage money split.

The Brixton man is currently number one in the WBO rankings and the favorite to face Joshua in a title defense match. However, Hearn has warned him not to risk his one good chance at a title fight against Joshua on the governing body’s decision.

Another fighter, the Cruiserweight Super Champion, Oleksandr Usyk’s climb to the heavyweight division could potentially rid Whyte of a chance to face Joshua later this year under the WBO rules.
