The coach of Nigeria’s national male basketball team D’Tigers, Alex Nwora, has released his final 12-man squad for the 2019 FIBA Men’s World Cup slated to hold in China from 31st August-15 September 2019. The trio of team captain Ike Diogu, Jordan Nworah, and Al-Farouq Aminu top the list of Nigeria’s representatives at the event which will hold in Asia.
The Nigerian side form part of Group B alongside Argentina, Korea Republic, and Russia. All is set for the biggest basketball showpiece, commencing this Saturday. African giants, Nigeria, will confront Russia on the opening day of the tournament in what will be D’Tigers first game at the global tournament.
Coach Nworah’s charged folks head into the FIBA Men’s World Cup with great confidence after emerging victorious in the 2019 Peak International Invitational Tournament in China, recording a 89-86 win over Montenegro. Nigerian basketball faithfuls are expectant of a decent outing especially after the Nigerian national female basketball team, D’Tigress, won the recently concluded FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Senegal with a 60-55 points victory over the host nation in the final.
