Dreams of Brighter Days Initiative

Dreams of Brighter Days Initiative is an NGO which kicked off in 2011, domiciled in Ajegunle Lagos state, founded by Eric Obuh AKA Vocal Slender who is an ambassador of hope to many, drawing inspiration to take up this humanitarian course from his experience as a secondary school dropout who was fortunate enough to have read great books which he picked from the dump.

The Dreams of Brighter Days Initiative is a crusade for poverty alleviation, child education, youth empowerment and sensitisation, motivation, and orientation, utilising skill programs, workshops, and other initiatives that are expedient in transforming the lives of people from the grassroots, especially in the slums.

Ajegunle which is the most populous city in Nigeria has a history of crime, high poverty rate, violence, high rate of illiteracy and poor standard of living, but the realisation that there are champions and promising kids with bright futures who could be aided to reach their full potential through educational supports and other skill programs which would position them for today’s opportunity is neglected therefore, it is because of this which necessitated the clarion call for us to organise programs to equip and encourage them; as our research revealed that most of them lack common basic resources and skills to improve their living standards.

Programs For Support/Sponsorship

Christmas in Ajegunle

Christmas in Ajegunle is a charity event organised by Dreams of Brighter Day’s initiative every 24th of December, giving out foodstuffs, such as grains, vegetable oil, chicken, and seasonings, to aid underprivileged families in the slums to celebrate the festive period with their counterparts.

The Platform

This initiative is an outreach where we would capture the youths from secondary school and organise career talks, debates, talk shows and workshops that would change the mentality and orientation of the Ajegunle youths, geared towards grooming seasoned leaders/organised personalities in Nigeria. Slated to be held in September

Impact Ajegunle (The Power of Communication)

An initiative which we use to change the thought pattern of the underprivileged people. We bring people who have bizarre stories but are now successful in life to talk to youths, women and men as these underprivileged people are influenced by their surroundings. Also, skill acquisition programs would follow suit to conclude the event, training on how to produce -Detergent, liquid soap, insecticide, petroleum jelly, etc, for free. The timetable for Impact Ajegunle is every 3 months.

Vocational Skill Centre

Dreams Of Brighter Days Initiative has been organising skill acquisition programs to give them a tool to alleviate their suffering, position people for opportunities and better the lives of people in the slums and remote areas such as soap, powder, perfume production, fashion designing but it wants to parlay all skill acquisition programs in a bid of making it sustainable by creating vocational centres that would incorporate skills in departmentalized format. Not yet kicked off

Back To School Program

Even as much as free education courtesy of the government is readily available, the void which ensures these kids have the necessary school materials can never be overrated. That is why we give out school materials like School bags, stationery and school sandals to these underprivileged kids to motivate and encourage them to stay in school, which is an annual, every 24th of August. For the past eight years, DBDI has reached out to more than 30,000 thirty thousand school kids with school materials

Scholarship For Primary Through Secondary Education

We currently have over forty kids under our scholarship net. We offer scholarships to underprivileged kids who are out of school because many cannot afford to pay school fees (orphans inclusive).
