During the dreaded Ebola virus season of 2014, pharmacies made mega profits from the sales of hand sanitisers.
Yes, we stocked these solutions in our homes, cars, offices and anywhere else we could think of. Some purchased sanitisers in gallons, and others gave out scented versions as gifts to loved ones.
Thankfully, we were able to contain the disease, but even a year later, sanitisers still remain essential for maintaining health. They kill off those dreaded germs and bacteria that lurk everywhere.
Read on for details on how to make hand sanitisers for you and your family:
INGREDIENTS AND EQUIPMENT
1. 2/3 cup of 99% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)
2. 1/3 cup of pure aloe vera gel
3. 8 to 10 drops of essential oil, such as lavender or coconut
4. Mixing bowl
5. Spoon
6. Funnel
7. Plastic container
DIRECTIONS
1. Mix spoonfuls of alcohol and Aloe Vera gel together in a bowl. The thickness in consistency depends on the quantity of gel you use.
2. Add drops of your selected essential oils, one at a time to the mixture while stirring gently. The oil is guaranteed to create a pleasant scent.
3. Using a funnel, pour the solution into the plastic container and screw lid tightly.
