Almond milk has taken its place atop the table of plant-produced kinds of milk due to its super rich healthy nutrients combo. It is made by blending almonds with water and then straining the mixture to remove the solids. It can also be made by adding water to almond butter.
To make this milk at home, all you’ll need is a blender, water and almond nuts.
Ingredients 1 – 2 cups of almond nuts Water Sugar, honey or preferred sweetener.
Procedure 1. Soak the almond nuts in water for up to two days (note that the longer you soak the nuts the creamier the milk will be). 2. Pick out the nuts from the water and rinse them under running water. At this point, the nuts should feel quite tender. 3. Place the almond nuts and an adequate amount of water (say 1-2 cups) in a blender, then turn it on. 4. Let the blender run at the highest speed for about 2 to 3 minutes. 5. Use a cloth sieve (pap/akamu/eko sieve) to sieve out the milk from the blended mix. 6. Squeeze properly until you have pressed a good amount of milk out. 7. Almond milk is ready! 8. Taste it; if you need to add sweeteners then do so.
