Media and entertainment conglomerate, Disney, is working with Nigerian-American producer and director, Rick Famuyiwa, in developing an African fairy-tale movie titled
Sade.

According to The Walt Disney Company, the film will be built around the life of an
African princess whose kingdom is under threat by a mysterious evil force and with the help of the prince, uses her newly discovered magical powers to protect her people.
The film was pitched by Ola Shokunbi and Lindsey Reed Palmer, who will also co-write the screenplay bought by the American conglomerate.
Even though a director is yet to be named for the project, Famuwiya – who wrote and directed movies
Dope,
The Flash,
Confirmation and
Our Family Wedding – will be saddled with the responsibility of producing while Scott Falconer will executive produce.
The film, like many of the newly announced
Afrocentric films, is inspired by the groundbreaking success of Marvel’s blockbuster science fiction fantasy movie,
Black Panther.
