Smartphones have grown consistently in functionality as well as in price. Last year, premium smartphone prices were at an all-time high with phones like the iPhone 8 plus/iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 XL and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 reaching the $1000 mark. And as usual, these prices will only keep going higher.
Although $1000 is quite an amount to spend on a phone, the most expensive set of phones in the world are not even that cheap. They run into 7 to 8 figure prices (in USD) and are usually not made for everyone. Basically, when you start adding jewels and precious metals to a phone, it turns into an item of great value.
The Stuart Hughes’ Black Diamond iPhone 5 which is valued at $15,000,000 is rumoured to be the most expensive phone in the world. It was created by renowned UK designer Stuart Hughes with a flawless 26ct black diamond. He created the iPhone 5 from scratch, taking nine weeks to chassis from 24 carat gold.
He inlaid the chassis with 600 white flawless diamonds and embedded the black diamond into the home button. In total, it cost $15 million to produce. Stuart Hughes is also famous for making some of the world’s most expensive and luxurious items.
Also, the Falcon Supernova iPhone 6 Pink Diamond valued at $48.5 million is on the list of the world’s most expensive phones. The phone was made on request for Nita Ambani, the wife of successful businessman, Muskesh Ambani in India.
The phone is made of 24-carat gold with a gigantic diamond on the back as well as a platinum coating and hack protection.
