Did you know that paw paw seeds can be eaten as a raw supplement and can be used as a replacement for pepper? We are actually trashing treasures and losing out on a lot when we discard these wonder seeds because we are unaware of their remarkable health benefits.

The pawpaw seed contains so many nutrients which are believed to improve digestion; help the skin fight acne, wrinkle, and aging by regenerating the old and dead skin cells; minimize the risk of cancer – colon, breast, lung, leukaemia and prostate; heal cirrhosis of the liver, detoxify the liver and improve kidney health; kill intestinal worms and amoeba parasites; relieve menstrual pain and cramps; kill harmful bacteria like E. coli, Staphylococcus, and Salmonella;  heal viral infections and prevent other diseases like dengue fever. Its anti-inflammatory properties help treat arthritis and joint disease, swelling and pains.

Substitute for black pepper

crushed paw paw seedsTo use as a substitute for black pepper, crush the seeds using a mortar and pestle or grinder. It tastes like a blend of pepper and mustard. You can season your meat with them before you cook the meat. It also acts as a meat tenderizer and adds flavour. The fresh or dry seeds can be used as a supplement when eaten raw, ground or crushed in salad dressings, milk, or honey. Dry seeds can retain their nutritional value for 6 to 12 months when kept frozen. Taking the seeds with honey have possible health benefits too.
