Whenever you are invited for an interview or writing your curriculum vitae, the first question that you are required to have a knowledge about is your soft skills. This knowledge is not found in any textbook but is groomed into a child from his first step. Soft skills are used to indicate all the competencies that are not directly connected to a specific task; they are necessary for any position as they mainly refer to the relationships with other people involved in the organization. There are steps to developing soft- skills:
  • Read stories to children that involve feelings.
  • Draw art, sing songs, encourage creativity.
  • Facilitate children working together.
  • Play games that involve give and take.
  •  Give children routines and tasks at home.
  • Encourage curiosity and answer questions.
  • Model expressing sympathy.
  •  Teach them basic and important information.
  •  Exposing your child early to develop his/her soft skills makes it easy for them to thrive and adapt to any changing circumstances.
The following are soft skills that we all should be familiar with:
  1. Leadership Skills.
  2. Communication Skills
  3. Time Management Skills
  4. Numeracy Skills
  5. Literacy Skills
  6. Critical Thinking Skills
  7. Creativity Skills
  8. Research Skills
  9. Interpersonal Skills
  10. Problem Solving Skills.
  11. Technical Skills.

  • This is an interesting piece that every parent should go through. The question this article generates in my heart is, how many parents spend time with their child/ren? Hence, teachers are charged with the function of teaching pupil soft skills.
