Engr. Abdullahi Sule has been appointed as the new Acting Group Managing Director of Dangote Sugar Refinery, Ventures Africa reports. The appointment became effective on Friday, October 23, 2015, and was further communicated to the Nigerian Stock Exchange in a company notice. According to the company, the decision has been officially approved by its board. There are speculations that the new development is in line with the company’s new directive to reposition business operations, enable the production of 1.5 metric tonnes of sugar per annum, and generate employment and power to two sites at Adamawa and Taraba states. The refinery has been in operation since 2000 as a division of Dangote Industries Limited, with a production capacity of about 1.44 million MT per annum. This makes it the largest sugar refinery in Sub Saharan Africa and second largest in the world.   Source: Ventures Africa
