  As part of efforts to ensure a significant percentage of the Nigerian population is vaccinated against COVID-19, the federal government has made it compulsory for all civil servants on its payroll to take the vaccines approved by the government or risk being barred entrance into their offices.

This information was made available to the public by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, during a media briefing. Mustapha who is the chairman of the presidential steering committee on COVID-19 said civil servants who do not take the vaccines would not be allowed entrance into offices from December 1, 2021.
‘With effect from 1st December 2021, Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours, to gain access to their offices, in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions. An appropriate service-wide advisory/circular will be issued to guide the process.’ Boss Mustapha

Speaking further, the Aso Rock chieftain disclosed that statistics from COVID-19 tests carried out over the last four weeks shows that while in some states, the infection rate is dropping, the number is getting higher in other states. With this new development, government workers are expected to take the first and second doses of the vaccine in other to avoid the risk of losing their jobs.
