Read more about Sports Information revealed from the communiqué signed by one of the clubs’ chairmen, Abdul Sule, it was equally agreed that owing to CAF’s decision to start the CAF Women Champions League in the 2020/2021 season, the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) will now be structured in a straight league format, unlike the usual playoff pattern. The NWPL leadership went further to urge clubs to work hard towards having a remarkable outing in the inaugural edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
“Clubs should be encouraged to prepare for the 2020/2021 season contingent upon the time the protocol for resuming sporting activities are approved. The league will resume after approval has been granted by the Sports Minister for the resumption of sporting activities in line with the protocols of the COVID-19 Presidential Tasks Force.” NWPLResolutions reached at the meeting also charged the League Board not to compromise with the standards set as clubs are expected to use the break presented by COVID-19 to complete all league registration process including evidence of payment of players’ salaries.

For the men’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), despite the unanimous decision reached by 18 club owners and the League Management Company (LMC) to use the point per game system to determine the outcome of the suspended season and cancel the season, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and LMC have not made a definitive statement yet as regards the cancellation of the current season.
