In Nigeria, food supply business enjoys more saturation than any other business, and is unarguably one of the nation’s biggest sources of gross revenue.

Oribi Agatha Batubo, a mother of four, contributes her quota to Nigeria’s food supply sector via Urban-Wifey Food BasketUrban-Wifey Food Basket is a food supply service venture that deals in the distribution of crustacean food constituents and other foodstuff.

Batubo started Urban-Wifey Food Basket in March 2017, in response to a growing public demand for items used for cooking shellfish in Port Harcourt. The 36-year-old entrepreneur partners with her husband’s company, Rutts Ocean Foods, a Shellfish Processing, Packaging & Distribution outfit, to deliver fresh food items to her customers.

According to Batubo, starting out was not an easy move, as she quickly ran into storage problems which largely limited transportation of her goods to rural areas. However, she found a solution to this problem by collaborating with RedStar Express Delivery Services. And with this partnership, Batubo was able to extend her business’ reach to several other areas of the state.

Though business is growing, Batubo believes that the government still has a big role to play in helping other businesses like hers, in the areas of power supply and transportation.
