Many Nigerians have drawn the conclusion that it is not the job of Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr to develop Nigerian football. but the Nigeria Football Federation is not asking Rohr to Develop the country’s football, all they (NFF) want from Rohr is to add some players from the Nigeria Professional Football League to the Super Eagles.

The NFF has taken a good step to ensure Gernot Rohr watches NPFL games, so he wouldn’t find it difficult integrating any of those players into the team, it is not rocket science, there is no way you say that we do not have quality players in the NPFL when you don’t watch them play.

No doubt the German tactician Gernot Rohr has accomplished some of the missions given to him by the Nigeria Football Federation, you still won’t expect them to give him a similar or lenient assignment. Even when you play adventure games, surpassing each round you will expect a tougher challenge in the next round. Those conditions stated in Rohr’s contract are absolutely spot on.

One of the conditions that most Nigerians have slammed the Nigeria Football Federation for is forcing the German to stay in Nigeria plus paying his wages in Naira instead of the usual Dollars. The question I want to ask that might as well sound like a rhetorical question is, What is the essence of paying Rohr in Dollars when he is to reside in Nigeria?. That question has as well answered itself. If Rohr should stay in Nigeria, then he has to get paid in Naira.

A Legend of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Victor Ezeji in a chat with me, praised the Nigeria Football Federation for forcing Rohr to watch NPFL Games.

“He is not watching. If he is, he will definitely pick some. I think that is a good step that the NFF has taken to making sure that Gernot Rohr watches the NPFL, He has to improve the players”

Gone are the days when you see Nigeria players scattered around top clubs in Europe with some of them signing for their various club straight from Nigeria League side. Arsenal legend Kanu Nwankwo was signed from Iwuanyanwu National straight to Ajax of Amsterdam, it took Kanu a short time to break into the first-team setup.

Nigeria league should be in its stratosphere right now, if that hierarchical development had taken place. Our fingers are crossed to see how Gernot Rohr will handle these aforesaid Stringent conditions given to him by the Nigeria Football Federation. The German has confirmed that NFF has offered him a new contract, stating that he is unscathed by the controversies surrounding him.
