Civil society organisations across the Commonwealth can now apply for funding through the Commonwealth Foundation’s grants program, with awards of up to £60,000 available.

This open application round aims to support constructive collaboration between civil society groups and policymakers, promoting civil society involvement in both the development and execution of policies.
Priority Areas for Funding
The Foundation will prioritise projects focusing on:
Health Justice
Freedom of expression
Climate Justice

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this grant program, organisations must meet the following conditions:
Organisations must operate as registered not-for-profit civil society entities within Commonwealth Foundation Member States that are eligible for funding.
A minimum of three years of proven track record in participatory governance and advocacy work related to the proposed project’s theme is required. Organisations with less than three years of registration and operational history cannot apply.
Organisations currently executing Commonwealth Foundation Grant projects or those who have recently finished such projects but haven’t received their final disbursement are ineligible for this application cycle.
Projects must aim to create positive change by fostering productive dialogue between civil society and policymakers, encouraging civil society involvement in policy creation and decision-making processes within the Foundation’s key priority areas listed above.
All proposed projects must be scheduled to commence after 1 August 2026 and no later than the end of September 2026.

Application Timeline
The application process follows this schedule:
- 16 September 2025: Application period begins.
- 23 October 2025: Application deadline; evaluation process starts.
- February 2026: Unsuccessful applicants will not receive communication beyond this date.
- June 2026: Selected applicants will receive notification by the month’s end.
