Fast-rising Nigerian music act Chukwuka Ekweani popularly known as Ckay hit a new height in the global entertainment scene after his ‘Love Nwantiti’ song was certified Gold in the United States of America.Ckay is one of the most sought-after Afrobeat acts around the globe.

Love Nwantiti attained Gold status on Monday, January 10, 2022, as the singer surely awaits the Gold plaque that is given to an artist whenever a record hits the equivalent of 500,000 in sales via streaming and raw CD sales in the US. Prior to this development, the global hit track, Love Nwantiti, had been certified Gold in the United Kingdom and France. It will be recalled that in 2021, the track hit music charts across the globe, topping many and making Ckay the biggest African artist on Spotify. Despite having numerous remixes by acts across the globe, the original version of Love Nwantiti released by Ckay in 2019 attained the Gold status after blowing up in the United States. The record was first released in 2019 under Chocolate City, but a remix with Joeboy and Kwami Eugene was released in 2020, gaining Ckay popularity in the globe.

Recounting his journey in the entertainment industry and his rise to the limelight, during an episode of “The Afrobeats Podcast,” by Adesope Olajide, Ckay said:
“When I came here (Lagos), I had a master plan. I could produce, and I could write. At a point, that was what I had to offer.’’He went on to note that he reached a point where he had to create and write before releasing his own sounds before making it to Chocolate City in 2019 and later Warner Music in 2020.
