ImoTowards good governance, and update on progress of development, the Federal Government has necessitated its presence at citizens’ forum to be held in states, from this year. The forum will give the government, a chance to inspect projects, ongoing and recently completed, and hear from folks, on what their expectations are, on urgent and important projects. The forum was held today in Imo State, after the Federal Government team, led by Minister for Information, Laraban Maku, inspected projects and conveyed for the forum. The event was held for about four hours, and the Governor, Rochas Okorocha gave a long speech on, his administration, the issues he has with the previous administration, and what he hopes to do. The Minister gave the closing remark, answering some questions, and clarifying their purpose of visit. He sidestepped certain questions, stating that he may not be able to answer them, because certain offices and individuals will provide better answers. He also commended the work of the Governor, and will take the report, back to the Federal Capital, to find more ways to be involved in developmental works of the State. The forum provides new opportunities for interaction, between the government and the people, cutting bureaucratic barriers, to know what is being done, how it will benefit the people, and what should be done, to better the lives of people. The Government will also have to bring to the fore, programs to grow per capita GDP, and make available basic services for all.
