Chimamanda Adichie in an interview in the upcoming summer edition of Ms. Magazine, one of America’s iconic feminist magazines, has been named one of the most talked about Nigerian born writers in the U.S. The interview was conducted by Janell Hobson, an associate professor of Women’s Studies at the University at Albany, State University of New York.
Earlier this year, Chimamanda was the first Nigerian and the first African to win the US National Books Critic Circle (NBCC) Award, for her latest novel “Americanah”. This is an award widely considered to be the most prestigious literary award in the US as it is awarded by professional literary critics and reviewers. She was also the first Nigerian and the first African to win the Orange Prize for her 2nd novel, “Half of a Yellow Sun”
“Americanah” has garnered other awards and recognition in the US and around the world. It has also been named by the New York Times as one of the Top Ten Books of the Year.
