Evra visited Nigeria for the first time to support kids in the slums

Ex-Manchester United of England star, Patrice Evra, visited Nigeria for the Chess in Slums initiative founded by Tunde Onakoya. The UEFA Champions League winner visited the popular Oshodi under bridge on Saturday, March 26, 2022, and was all smiles when he exchanged pleasantries with fans and participated in the chess event.

It will be recalled that the founder of the initiative, Tunde Onakoya, on Thursday, March 24, announced on Twitter that a Manchester United legend would take part in the event at Oshodi under bridge and play chess with less privileged kids, tasking followers to guess who it would be.
“A Manchester United legend/former captain and a UEFA Champions League winner will be coming to play Chess against some of the kids in our academy at Oshodi underbridge. Can you guess who it is?,”
Onakoya tweeted. Numerous guesses would be made until Friday evening, March 25, when Evra revealed in a video post that he would be visiting the West African nation, home to thousands of Manchester United fans.

“Breaking news! Evra bus stop will stop in Nigeria for the first time ever,”
the former Manchester United left-back disclosed. Evra who was in Nigeria for the first time in his life, posted a video on his Twitter page showing him playing chess with kids in the Oshodi slum amidst smiles. Chess in Slums has seen high profile personalities and celebrities play chess with underprivileged children and give them a sense of support in society.
