Last night, Chelsea became the first club to hold the UEFA Champions League and Europa League titles at the same time. The London side beat Portuguese club, Benfica in the final on Wednesday night at the Amsterdam Arena, Netherlands.
Mikel played no part in the game as he is still nursing a niggling hip injury, while Victor Moses started on the bench. Fernando Torres gave Chelsea the lead in the second half before Oscar Cardozo restored parity from the spot.
Branislav Ivanovic put the game to bed with a looping header in the wee minutes of the game. Mikel Obi has now owns 9 winners medals with the club – 1 Premier League, 4 FA Cup, 1 Community shield, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 Europa League, 1 League Cup – in 8 years.
This is Victor Moses’ first winners medal with Chelsea and the second in his short career.
