Nigeria missed out on the last edition of the continental showpiece hosted by Cameroon and will be looking to redeem its image by qualifying for the 2023 edition. Nigeria’s most successful outing in the history of the competition was finishing second in the 2018 edition after a 4-0 defeat to the Atlas Lions of Morocco in the final match. The Moroccans would go on to defend their title during the 2020 edition in Cameroon with a 2-0 win over Mali in the final game at the AhmadouAhidjo Stadium, Yaounde.
