The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that the winner of its 2013 All Financial Institutions Football Competition (AFIFC) will receive a prize money of N2million. The competition, jointly organized with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, will have the prizes to motivate participants, says CBN’s Director of Corporate Communications, Ugochukwu Okoroafor. He also said, “The second placed team will get N1.5million while those that occupy the third and fourth places at the end of the competition will receive N1million and N500, 000 respectively. A total of 24 teams from Deposit Money Banks, Financial Regulatory Agencies and other financial institutions have registered for this year’s edition of the competition.” “Mr. Okoroafor said the preliminary matches of the competition will kick-off on the 2nd of October, 2013 to 8th of October, 2013 in four designated centres; Lagos, Minna, Owerri and Lafia. “Peace MFB (Ijebu-Ode), Unity Bank (Kaduna), Sadiqma MFB (Minna), Alekun MFB (Odogbolu), Ikeja MFB (Lagos) and Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (Abuja) are in Group A and will play their preliminary matches in Lagos Centre.” “Group B (Minna Centre) has ; Kwali MFB (Abuja, Badawa MFB (Jos), Enterprise Bank (Kaduna),FIRS (Abuja), Johan Investment (Lagos) and Biaji MFB (Abuja).”
