Nigerian Professional Football League giants, Enugu Rangers on Sunday, January 26, 2020, ended Pyramids FC of Egypt winning streak in the CAF Confederations Cup after beating the Arabian side 1-0 in Cairo, Egypt. Prior to Sunday’s game, Pyramids had enjoyed a four games defeatless run which has left them top of the group, while Rangers were positioned third. A 73rd minute strike from Ifeanyi George after converting a long pass from Msonter Shimaga, was all the Nigerians needed to rekindle hopes of advancing into the quarterfinal stage of the competition. The result meant Rangers maintained third spot with five points in their group with hope of qualifying for the quarter-final if they win their last group game.

Elsewhere, Nigerian league champions, Enyimba FC of Aba suffered a setback in their bid towards advancing into the quarterfinal after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Moroccan side, Hassania Agadir. After recording a 4-1 victory against AC Paradou in their last outing, all the Peoples Elephant needed was victory against their Arabian visitors at the Enyimba International Stadium to progress into the quarterfinals with a game to spare but the Fatai Osho managed side would have to wait a little longer to see if they can qualify for the next round.
