The
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a total of 11 categories for the 2018
CAF awards.
According to a statement issued on the
CAF official website on Monday, the awards categories comprise of both individual and collective awards — and, nominees will be selected strictly on their performance in the past 10 months — from February 2018 to November 2018.
The winners for the
African Player of the Year and
Women’s Player of the Year will be determined by the following parties:
- CAF Technical & Development Committee
- Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup
- Coaches and Captains of the 54 Member Associations
The categories for the
Youth Player of the Year, Men’s Coach of the Year, Women’s Coach of the Year, Men’s National Team of the Year and
Women’s National Team of the Year will be elected by:
- CAF Technical & Development Committee
- Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup
For the very first time, FIFPro will organize the Africa Finest XI, whilst, the Goal of the Year will be sorely decided by the public online.
The biggest football award event in Africa, to honor footballers, officials, and administrators, who made a remarkable impact to football during the year, will be held on Tuesday,
8 January 2019 in Dakar, Senegal.
