Sunday’s match started in frenzy as both sides sought to take the lead, but it was the host team that put themselves ahead in the 7th minute after Mbaoma raced to meet a fine cross from Abdulrahman Bashir before slotting home the ball to gift the two-time African champions the lead. TS Galaxy also created some decent chances for themselves but did little to trouble Theophilus Afelokhai, who manned the post for the Nigerian side. Changes by Coach Abd’Allah in the second-half which saw the duo of Austin Oladapo and Martin Usule introduced into the encounter, and proved productive as Usule threatened the Galaxy defense until his persistence paid off after scoring Enyimba’s second goal of the game in the 60th minute. The game would go on to end 2-0, putting Enyimba in a good position ahead of their second-leg tie in barely a week.
