The BRICS Young Innovator Prize, now in its 8th edition, will be integrated into the 10th BRICS Young Scientist Forum scheduled for September 15th – 17th, 2025, in Brasilia, Brazil. This event occurs during Brazil’s presidency of the BRICS alliance.

The competition’s designated focus area is: Artificial Intelligence applied to Public Service Solutions. How can emerging technologies improve the lives of citizens in BRICS countries? Submissions addressing alternative topics will be excluded from consideration.
Qualification Criteria
- Applicants must not exceed forty (40) years of age as of December 31st, 2025.
- Applicants must be the original creators of their submitted projects.
- Candidates must demonstrate connection to BRICS nations through citizenship (by birth or naturalization) or through permanent residence status.
- Each candidate may submit only one project.
Project Specifications
Submitted innovations must demonstrate novelty and originality. Projects must remain in pre-commercial phases, indicating they have not reached widespread market availability or public distribution, including local markets.
Acceptable project stages include limited testing phases, prototype production, regulatory approval processes, or pre-launch preparation. The BRICS Young Innovator Prize emphasizes projects with potential applications for sector or industry enhancement.

Submissions should target substantial social, economic, developmental, or environmental issues while providing innovative approaches to enhance living standards across contemporary BRICS nations.
Corporate-developed innovations are ineligible (such as projects created by technology company staff). Additionally, projects must not have existing mergers with technology companies or be undergoing merger processes during competition participation.
Awards Structure:
Winning participants will be awarded the following monetary prizes following verification processes and adherence to all BRICS Young Innovator Prize terms and conditions:
- First Place: twenty-five thousand dollars (USD 25,000).
- Second Place: fifteen thousand dollars (USD 15,000).
- Third Place: ten thousand dollars (USD 10,000).
