Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi, and Ghanaian actress and TV host, Joselyn Dumas, have been chosen to announce the nominees for the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Channel Director, Africa Magic, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu who made the revelation also added that close to 300 entries for the different categories of the awards have been received across Africa. These entries had been critically scrutinized by the panel of judges, headed by veteran filmmaker Debbie Odutayo, to come up with a final shortlist of nominees.
In her words, “We are honoured to showcase and celebrate the creative industry each year on the platform of the AMVCAs. In the past five years, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to nurture and showcase indigenous talent from across the continent. Join us on Saturday, 30th June, as we reveal the nominees for the sixth edition of the awards.”
The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) was launched five years ago to recognize the contributions of African filmmakers, actors and other stakeholders to the success of the continent’s motion picture industry. In this years edition, there will be awards in 27 categories, 7 of which will be open to public voting, and 20 whose winners will be reviewed and decided upon by the AMVCA panel of judges.
The awards will be showing on all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv on 30th June 2018 at 7 pm (West African Time).
