Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare gives the thumbs up sign after placing first in her women's 100m round 1 event at the London 2012 Olympic Games in the Olympic Stadium On Monday night, Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare continued with her Commonwealth Games form as she won gold in the women’s 100m event in a record time of 11.00 secs at the ongoing 19th Edition of the African Athletic Championships in Marrakech, Morocco. Okagbare, who won a double in sprint at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, set a new Championship record with her time of 11.00 secs. The 25-year-old Nigerian sprinter beat 26-year-old Ivorian Murielle Ahouré who finished in second place with a time of 11.03 secs while the other two Nigerian athletes in the finals, Gloria Asunmu and Lawretta Ozoh were unable to make it to the podium finishing 4th and 7th respectively. “I am very happy to have won the title because I just wanted to win for my fans and do my country proud,” Okagbare told journalists after the race.
