We don’t know when, but seeing the billboard mounted last week in Ikoyi, Lagos signifies that they are ready for Nigeria.
Blackberry, formerly known as Research in Motion (RIM), has a lot riding on the success of BlackBerry 10. Analysts say that this device will either keep them in business or signal the end of Blackberry as we know it.
In recent years they have lost significant shares to the Apple iPhone and android phones
Nigeria, Africa, and other emerging markets are said to be the saving grace for Blackberry because of their popular chat app called blackberry messenger which is widely used in these places. So popular are the devices in Nigeria that several recent Nollywood movies have the word ‘blackberry’ in their titles.
Although their devices have been selling here in Nigeria for years, Blackberry just opened up offices here in 2012.
If Blackberry can conceive a way to keep existing Nigerian users hooked while signing up more, it is believed that we can give them the breath of life they need to keep going.
