Everybody knows there’s nothing commendable about being an amebo, but not many realise how dangerous it is or how strongly God feels about it. He is not indifferent to tatafo, and He tells us, at various times through different vessels, what we as His children should know about minding our own business. What does the Bible say about it?

1. Would you approach a dog on the street and grab it by its ears? Certainly not, but that’s exactly what interfering in an argument that’s none of your business amounts to. Stay in your lane! (Proverbs 26:17)

2. In addition to shunning laziness and loud lifestyles, the early Christians were repeatedly encouraged to mind their own business. This also applies to us today. (1 Thess 4:10-12)

3. Minding your business is part of being disciplined. Are you busy interfering in other people’s lives? You are wrong. In the name of Christ, you are ordered and encouraged to cease and desist. No kidding, look it up! (2 Thess 3:11-13)

4. If you suffer for being a Christian, it is a privilege, but if you get into trouble for prying into other people’s affairs, you’re on your own. Anything you see, take it like that. (1 Peter 4:15-16)

5. Gossip provides fuel for discord. Without “he said, she said”, conflict dies down faster. (Proverbs 26:20)

6. Meddling is for fools, not for honourable people. (Proverbs 20:3)

7. Going from house to house (or inbox to inbox!) gossiping and saying things you ought not to say, is ungodly behaviour. Don’t be a busybody. (1 Timothy 5:12)

8. Keep your unflattering opinions about others to yourself. Why should uncomplimentary words about others be traced to you? (James 4:11)

9. You should be more concerned with dealing with your own issues, than poking your nose into other people’s affairs. Nobody is perfect, so deal with your own failings and let others deal with theirs. If they need your help they will ask you. (Matthew 7:3-5)

10. Jesus never meddled in other people’s business. He went about doing his Father’s work and fulfilling purpose. Even when they tried to rope him in, he insisted on staying in his lane. Be like Jesus. (Luke 12:13-14)

God frowns at aproko, and it’s for your own good. When you keep your mouth shut and face your front, you deliver your soul from trouble. Adopt this lifestyle, and flourish!
