Timi Dakolo isn’t just a phenomenal singer, he does love songs as no other Nigerian music artiste does. You do not just hear the song, he communicates the emotion behind the lyrics with every tone.
The winner of the inaugural season of Idol West Africa released his long-awaited debut “Beautiful Noise” album in 2011. The album was packed full with captivating love songs. Except for four tracks – there’s a Cry’, ‘Let It Shine’, ‘Raise the Roof’ and ‘Great Nation’ – every song on the 14 track album was a love song.
Timi has gone on to release a number of other love-themed singles since then, mostly working with ace music producer Cobhams Asuquo.
He has been married to Busola for nine years, and their love seems ever fresh. ‘The Vow’ was written for their 5th wedding anniversary, and there’s no doubt that she is his inspiration for writing these beautiful songs, as almost every music video with a love theme released by the singer has had Busola playing his love interest. He’d have it no other way.
The Ijaw singer says his wife is his greatest critique, and that marrying her has transformed his music. We are never tired of seeing our favorite celebrity couple all loved up in music videos.
